The coronavirus shut down is getting the best of most of the sporting world as the fans scramble for anything to sink their teeth into.

And the poor commentators have very little to do.

On Fox Sports in Australia for example, commentators are staying fresh by re-commentating classic games.

The epic fighte between Olive and Mabel has netizens hooked thanks to the commentary by the sports broadcaster. While some commentators have started live calling real life, Cotter has set the world on fire with his riveting commentary of one of the great sporting rivalries — between his two dogs Olive and Mabel.

He first delved into the world of Labrador commentary one March 28 as he called the dogs eating in “The Dog’s Breakfast Grand Final”.

Hilariously he predicted he would continue his own insanity on April 2 with a tweet that said “Wimbledon going as well — by the time July comes around I probably will be ready to commentate on this kind of thing.”

On April 10, he went viral with the first battle as Mable pulled off one of the unlikeliest of victories in bone keep away.

Thanks for all the messages here. They have no idea what’s going on in the world or that they are being laughed at in many countries. In fact they have little clue about anything at the best of times, but anyone who has a dog knows how important they are just now. pic.twitter.com/InfXkntvCb

“There were more than 8,000 messages and, quite unlike what I’ve been used to on Twitter, the overwhelming majority were positive,” Cotter said of the instant fame. “In fact, there were only two telling me that I was terrible dog-owner who was giving my pets eating issues and they had Trump avatars.

“It’s the dogs, isn’t it? Everyone loves dogs at the best of times, but at the worst of times even more so. There’s no such thing as ‘a therapy dog’ – that is a tautology. None of this has changed Mabel or Olive, although a few friends have said Mabel was robbed, because I messed up getting her bowl down. There are demands for a rematch.”
